The vision for extending the church

Last year a small committee was developed with parishioners who had backgrounds in engineering and architecture to look at the idea of extending the church. This committee went through a long process of investigating the current design of the church, the engineering restrictions and the council regulations that would impact any renovation work.
After a long process of investigation, the advice was that the best option would be to build an extension on the side of the church which would be connected to the church while minimising any alteration to the current structure. One of our parishioners has volunteered his time to create the design for this extension.

Extension of the Church
The plan is to create a multipurpose space which will be connected to the church with folding doors. At times when we need the church to be larger, we can open these doors and seat another 130 people. When we need this space for events or hospitality after mass, the doors can be closed and we have a separate parish hall.
A Space for Hospitality
The extension will include a new kitchen and a disabled toilet. As part of this work we will remove the old kitchen from the foyer which will allow us to increase our seating space if people need to sit in the foyer during mass.
